From appearing on EBS's <Famous Doctors> to robotic surgery
Introducing Dr. Ki Gyeong-do, Chief Director of the Mint Hospital Women's Medical Center

#OB/GYN Specialist / M.D. Ki Gyeong-do, Chief Director of Mint Hospital
There is one thing that patients are most curious about when considering surgery for uterine fibroids, adenomyosis, or ovarian tumors.
Which doctor should I have surgery from?
While advanced surgical equipment is important, it is ultimately the medical staff who plan the actual surgery and operate the robot.
In particular, since the size, number, and location of uterine fibroids vary from patient to patient and future pregnancy plans or the preservation of the uterus must be considered, the surgeon's extensive experience in gynecological surgery is important.
Dr. Ki Kyung-do, the chief director and OB/GYN specialist leading the Mint Hospital Women's Medical Center, is a medical professional who has been in charge of gynecological treatment and surgery for about 15 years as a university hospital professor.
Currently, we are in charge of robotic and laparoscopic surgeries for women's diseases, including uterine fibroids, adenomyosis, ovarian tumors, and endometriosis.
OB/GYN specialist featured on EBS's <Famous Doctors>
Director Ki Gyeong-do appeared on the EBS program *Medical Experts* on April 19, 2019, in the episode titled "Uterine Tumors, Are They Cancer?" while serving as a professor at Kangdong Kyung Hee University Hospital.
The broadcast explains how to distinguish between various 'lumps' that occur in women, such as uterine fibroids and ovarian tumors, and
We introduced when surgery is necessary and when observation is sufficient through the clinical and surgical cases of Professor Ki Gyeong-do.
The official EBS broadcast guide also introduces Professor Ki Gyeong-do as the OB-GYN specialist for that episode.

#2019 EBS Master Doctors Episode <Uterine Tumors, Are They Cancer?> Featuring Professor Ki Kyung-do
For a long time, EBS has produced <Famous Doctors> as a medical documentary introducing expert medical professionals in various fields in Korea, and
Early official materials introduced the purpose of the program using the phrase "Best Doctors in Each Field Selected by Practicing Doctors."
You cannot judge the skills of medical staff based solely on their history of appearing on television.
However, in the case of Director Ki Gyeong-do, it is significant that his career as a university hospital professor, experience in gynecological surgery, and academic activities accumulated prior to that point serve as supporting factors.
15 years as a university hospital professor, experience with over 5,000 gynecological surgeries
Director Ki Gyeong-do graduated from Kyung Hee University College of Medicine and obtained master's and doctoral degrees from the same graduate school, and worked as a professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Kangdong Kyung Hee University Hospital for about 15 years.
My field of practice during my tenure at the university hospital was
Uterine fibroids and adenomyosis
Ovarian tumors and endometriosis
Gynecological tumors such as cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, and ovarian cancer
Pelvic organ prolapse
Laparoscopic, single-port, and robotic surgery
It was extensive, including...
During my tenure at the university hospital, I performed over 5,000 gynecological surgeries, including hysterectomies and single-port laparoscopic and robotic surgeries.
In particular, we actively performed laparoscopic minimally invasive surgery even before robotic surgery was introduced in earnest.
In materials introduced by the Kyung Hee University Alumni Association in 2017, it was stated that at that time, there were already over 3,000 cases of laparoscopic surgery experience, and most benign gynecological tumors were being treated laparoscopically.
In other words, this is a medical team that did not begin performing gynecological surgeries for the first time after the introduction of robotic surgical equipment, but rather expanded their surgical techniques to include robotic surgery based on their extensive experience in open and laparoscopic surgery.

200 Gynecological Robotic Surgeries in Just Over a Year
At the time, it was the shortest period for a single professor in Korea.
Director Ki Gyeong-do achieved 200 cases of private gynecological robotic surgery in 2019, about a year after starting his first robotic surgery in May 2018.
At the time, Kangdong Kyung Hee University Hospital and various medical media outlets reported this as the "shortest time in Korea for a single professor to perform 200 robotic gynecological surgeries."
The 200 cases include hysterectomy, myomectomy, and single-port surgery performed for gynecological diseases such as adenomyosis, ovarian tumors, pelvic organ prolapse, cervical cancer, and endometrial cancer, as well as simple uterine fibroids.
When Mint Hospital first introduced the robotic surgery system in 2022, it also disclosed Director Ki Gyeong-do's experience with 700 cases of gynecological robotic surgery.
Currently, multiple OB-GYN specialists at Mint Hospital’s Women’s Medical Center perform robotic surgery together, with the medical team’s cumulative experience in approximately 2,000 cases. (Internal data from Mint Hospital, as of September 2026)
The important thing is not just the numbers.
Surgery to remove a single 10cm fibroid is completely different from surgery to locate and remove dozens of small fibroids, and
The difficulty of the surgery also varies in cases of intramural fibroids deep within the uterus or severe adhesions resulting from previous surgery.
This is why long-standing experience in performing surgeries for various gynecological diseases is important.

In particular, I also participated as an expert author in the 'Practice guidelines for management of cervical cancer in Korea' published by the Korean Society of Gynecologic Oncology in 2017.
This clinical guideline is an official academic document of the Korean Society of Gynecologic Oncology, which reviewed the evidence regarding the diagnosis and treatment of cervical cancer in Korea and established clinical recommendations through expert consensus.
In addition to this, I have participated in research papers in various fields of gynecology, including gynecological cancer, fertility preservation treatment, single-port laparoscopic surgery, and endometrial disease.

Why I Am Not a Doctor Who Only Recommends Robotic Surgery
In Director Ki Gyeong-do's medical practice, what Mint Hospital considers important is not 'performing a lot of robotic surgeries' itself.
This is because not all patients with uterine fibroids require robotic surgery.
Depending on the size, number, location, symptoms, age, and pregnancy plans of the fibroids, observation, hysteroscopic surgery, or laparoscopic surgery may be more appropriate, and in some cases, non-surgical treatments such as uterine artery embolization may be considered.
Mint Hospital Women's Medical Center is currently
Da Vinci X · Da Vinci SP Robotic Surgery
Laparoscopic surgery
hysteroscopic surgery
Uterine artery embolization
MRI-based precision diagnosis and hybrid treatment
We offer various treatment options.
Director Ki Gyeong-do, along with OB/GYN specialists and radiologists and interventional specialists, jointly review the patient's images.
The treatment approach of the Mint Hospital Women's Medical Center is to identify the treatment needed by the patient rather than predetermining a specific treatment method.
Beyond being a “doctor who has performed many surgeries”
I will be your lifelong primary care physician.
Director Ki Gyeong-do has been since his days as a university hospital professor.
“A lifelong primary physician who treats patients like family and soothes their hearts”I have been discussing this as my medical philosophy.
When diagnosed with uterine fibroids or ovarian tumors, patients do not perceive it as merely a matter of 'removing a single lump.'
Numerous concerns follow regarding whether the uterus can be preserved, whether pregnancy is possible, whether surgery is absolutely necessary, and which method is most suitable.
Based on extensive experience as a university hospital professor, thousands of gynecological surgeries, and experience in minimally invasive surgery ranging from laparoscopic to robotic surgery
I will carefully consider treatments that provide necessary care accurately and preserve as much as possible.

I will be a doctor who prioritizes considering whether a treatment is truly necessary, going beyond the method of surgery.
